Big Bend Community College delivers lifelong learning through a commitment to student success, excellence in teaching and learning, and community engagement.
E-2 Student Success
BBCC provides the diverse population of its entire district with access to opportunities, assists students in the completion of their goals, and develops skills for lifelong learning.
E-3 Excellence in Teaching and Learning
BBCC supports innovation, variety, and creativity; maintains high academic and industry standards; and supports professional development for continued growth.
E-4 Community Engagement
BBCC supports economic development by nurturing community and industry partnerships and support to the college to enhance access and service to our district population.
E-5 Integrity and Stewardship
BBCC acts as a responsible steward of resources by promoting accountability, sustainability, ethics and honesty, and prudent resource management to provide quality and affordable resources to the diverse population of our service district.

BBCC provides and maintains a climate of inclusiveness for students, employees, and partners by maintaining a safe learning environment and promoting cultural inclusiveness, understanding, and respect by embracing diversity, access, opportunity, and equity.
Board Chair, Thomas Stredwick
Appointed October 2017. Thomas Stredwick is the Senior Manager of Leadership & Organizational Development for the Grant County Public Utility District (PUD). Prior to joining the energy industry, he was the regional director of communications and marketing for the American Red Cross based in Spokane, WA. He has a B.A. in Applied Communications and a M.A. in Organizational Leadership both from Gonzaga University. Resident of Ephrata, WA.
Board Vice Chair, Juanita Richards
Appointed October 2014 and reappointed September 2019. A Moses Lake resident since 1993, Ms. Richards is a 2009 BBCC alumna. Regional Manager at Horizon Credit Union, a board member and past president of the Grant County Economic Development Council, a former trustee of the Board of Directors for the Washington Credit Union League Foundation, a former president and member of the Board of Directors for the Central Washington Chapter of Credit Unions, and a former chair of the BBCC Business Information Management Department Advisory Board. Resident of Moses Lake, WA.
Appointed January 2022. Gary Chandler is the Vice President of Strategic Affairs for the Association of Washington Businesses (AWB). He previously served as AWB’s Vice President of Government Affairs for 20 years before moving into his current role in October of 2021. He serves on the AWB Board of Directors and has served on the Big Bend Foundation Board since 2008. Chandler served as a legislator (1990-2002) and co-chaired the House of Agriculture and Ecology Committee and served on the Natural Resources and Transportation committees. He was elected to the legislature from Moses Lake and served in the seat occupied by his father, Glyn. He was a hay farmer, apple orchardist, former manager of the family’s farm implement dealership and also served as a Grant County Commissioner. Chandler is a proud Big Bend graduate and owns the UPS store in Moses Lake where he lives with his wife Deborah.
Anna Franz, J.D.
Appointed March 2012 and reappointed October 2015. Partner; Kenison Franz. Associate’s Degree, Big Bend Community College; BA with distinction, Economics, University of Washington; J.D., University of Washington. Current: Member, Washington State Association of Municipal Attorneys; Secretary, Lind Gun Club; Certified Hunter Education Instructor, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. Resident of Moses Lake, WA.
Appointed September 2021, Amy Parris is the Director of School to Career, AVID District Director, and oversees the Health and Wellness programs in the Othello School District. She holds a Master of Education in Counseling from Heritage University and served on the 2019-20 Presidential Search Committee. She enjoys spending time with her family.
