Last Friday was a peak day for Big Bend Community College: at the ACCT National Congress luncheon, Ryann was honored as the Pacific Region awardee; at the dinner that evening, she was one of five regional candidates for the national award. Although another deserving candidate received the national award, Ryann was the second regional awardee from Big Bend in two years. Former trustee Mike Blakely was the 2014 ACCT Pacific Region Trustee Leadership awardee.
Trustees Stephen McFadden and Jon Lane and I were very proud to see Ryann on the stage in front of more than 1,000 trustees, presidents, and others from colleges across the nation. To witness this celebration of excellence is one of the many benefits of my role. However, Ryann was quick to remind all of us that she is only one of many exceptional faculty members at Big Bend. She correctly noted that she has colleagues who are deserving of this honor.
Thank you to Ryann and to all of you–faculty, staff, and administration–for your outstanding dedication to teaching, learning, and student success. The value you add to our college ensures that extraordinary things are happening at Big Bend!
