A student writing contest is being hosted by the Writing Lab and the William C. Bonaudi Library for fall and winter quarters of the 2015-16 academic year.
The judges are looking for academic essays or research papers, poems, plays or song lyrics, or short fiction and non-fiction, according to Dawnne Ernette of the Writing Lab.
Submissions will be accepted through March 31, 2016. The contest is open to all currently enrolled BBCC students, Ernette said.
The grand prize is $200. First-place prizes for academic and creative writing are $100 each. Second-place awards will be $75 for academic and creative writing, and third-place prizes are $50.
Beyond the cash awards, Dawnne says “this contest provides an opportunity for students to share their talents with the campus community. I’m excited to see what students will showcase.”
“We are looking for students, faculty and staff to be judges through the duration of the contest,” Ernette said. “We have already received our first submissions.”
